Why you should introduce a bench to your dining room

Eating as a family is one of the greatest pleasures in life, and now that we are approaching a time when it can happen again it seems that many of us want to have more space to entertain. Chairs may be traditional but benches can be both stylish and practical. Here at Atkin & Thyme we have long been advocates of dining benches, and this month we are going to show you why.

The Logan Dining table, available in both medium and large, offers the perfect space saving solution. The benches (sold separately) allow more people to sit in a closer environment- perfect for children and also for relaxed and informal entertaining. Perfect for open-plan schemes as well as dedicated dining rooms, its distinctive chevron design is created from natural mango wood with a durable stainless steel frame. With benches, they can be easily moved to other parts of the house as needed, allowing you to utilise the generous space of the table top for baking, crafts or even buffets. If you have a larger gathering, a pair of benches makes a bold statement of style without overpowering your existing space.

So many of us have found we are now working from home for at least part of the week, so having a large table with benches can offer a real space saver if a dedicated home office is not possible. With plenty of space for working upon, the Reeves dining table can move effortlessly from office to home simply by storing your work related papers out of sight (we have some beautiful storage solutions on our website!).   The addition of a bench means the open feel of a room is not compromised, whilst there is nothing blocking the light; something that at this time of year is warm and welcoming. Natural mango wood finish and brass-plated legs give this set a warm, earthy style but with more than a nod to contemporary style. The trestle-style design creates plenty of space for seating, and so benches can easily be combined with chairs. The matching Reeves bench is the perfect addition to the space and can be tucked neatly underneath when not in use- meaning your work seat is no longer visible.

Dining benches do not preclude the use of chairs and a combination of the two is often a practical solution to the requirements of family and the constraints of space. By mixing and matching styles, tones and materials there is something for every design scheme and colour palette.
