Summer Interior Design Trends

In the summertime, the interior lovers come out of hibernation and look to pick up the hottest trends that encapsulate the meaning of summer. But for us, we look to trends that not only celebrate the season in style, but will carry on through the rest of the year. We’ve put a list together of trend-led products that we know will not only add a touch of the sun-kissed season to your interiors, but will be loved in your home the whole year through.

Floral and Foliage Designs

We think the floral and foliage trend is for all seasons, and not just for summer. A not so subtle nod to the trend, the Fern Bedside Drawers and Fern Chest of Drawers are made out of mango wood and features elegant, carved fern on the door fronts. Teamed up with the brass finished legs and handles, the bedside drawer and chest of drawers offer understated luxury in a flurry of ferns.

Textures

A healthy amount of texture will add personality and dimension to any room and will leave visitors feeling inspired. Textured and travel inspired, these pieces capture our love of adventure and exploration. The Fandango Chest of Drawers is a tactile treat with the carved 3D geometrical pattern that decorates the drawer fronts, giving this chest of drawers a touch of rustic magic. Check out our matching sideboard, media unit and bedside table. Touching on the adventurous side of textures and designs, modern console tables such as our Montana Vintage Console Table explore natural cowhide accents and mixes industrial metal legs with mango wood. This funky table will definitely grab the attention of anyone.

Neutral

Balancing functionality and aesthetics, the Scandi interior boasts neutral colour palettes, bright spaces and natural elements to create a home that is both simple and comfortable. The Harvey shelving unit contrasts industrial brass plated iron frame with mango wood shelves, creating that clean cut and natural feel prevalent in Scandi style. To truly embrace the trend, the Bleached round wall mirror uses smooth, whitewashed mango wood; the mirror is pared back and has the effortless Scandi appeal that will carry weight through all the seasons. Here at Atkin and Thyme we also love creating neutral spaces with marble furniture and other natural elements from our mother of pearl furniture collection!

Greenery

Leaf prints, colour palettes and tropical touches, the colour green is a perfect summer design trend to incorporate into your interior. Not only does this colour lighten up a room, it perceives as a natural refreshing way to connect with the outdoors. We spend so much of our time indoors and it is vital to add touches of the outside into your decor. The Calvin Chair in Green Velvet is a stylish statement piece for any room, adding a touch of colour and elegance suitable for both classic and contemporary designs.

Plants can help you to relax and also can improve the quality of air in a room and has overall health benefits. Some may say that plants in the workplace improve levels of productivity and creativity and ultimately reduces stress so why not implement that into your home this summer?

Velvet

Further following the art deco trend, velvet plays a large role in serving a vintage modern feel reminiscent of the 1920s movement. The Alresford Armchair in blue velvet would look perfect in any room, the frame made from mango wood and brass cups on the legs provide a suitable room presence in the steamy season of summer. This expensive feel look can be complete with the Carnaby Foot Stool in velvet, in a range of colours; blue, coral, teal, pink and mustard. These two are the perfect partners in design.
