Art Deco Additions

13/11/2015 11:58

Whilst its Predecessor ‘Art Nouveau’ is staking its claim within period interiors, the Art Deco trend is keeping up with its contemporary rivals. The movement is strong outside of interiors too - Baz Luhrman graced the silver screen with The Great Gatsby, the catwalks of DAKS and John Galliano played homage to the era and Downtown’s latest series indulged us too. The roaring 20’s may be behind us but the Art Deco trend is here to stay.

In the wake of Paris Fashion Week and the Chanel airport capturing our flights of fancy we’re embracing Parisian style with open arms. With all eyes on arguably the fashion epicentre of the world we take a look at how to give your home a certain je ne sais quoi.

Something borrowed, something new

Elsewhere in the world of interiors people are preoccupied with the new. French style embraces the vintage and showcases traditional decorative features like beautiful herringbone flooring. Our Estelle Mother of Pearl Inlay Chest of Drawers is reminiscent of something you’d find at a brocante (French flea market). Even though you’re buying something new this handcrafted piece will ensure that each chest of drawers is unique giving it a rustic charm.

Introduce classic style French pieces to a more contemporary interior; the juxtaposition between the two styles will help to create a magical Parisian pick and mix. The timeless silhouette of the Juliette French Style Linen Armchair instantly adds grandeur and charm to any room, the pared back linen upholstery means this versatile chair will fit with any décor.

Choosing unique accessories and furniture that don’t necessarily match but complement each other is a sure way to capture a Parisian inspired interior.
