After an Indian summer and the hottest Halloween on record, it looks like the cold weather is finally set to reach the UK this week. Bonfire night could even be the coldest this century!

Although having a comfortably warm home is important all year round, it is even more so once the mercury drops – so, before the cold blast reaches the UK we wanted to list our top tips for creating cosy rooms in the colder months!

Soft, snuggly textures - Pimlico Armchair in Velvet, Rio Armchair in Velvet, Hepburn Chair in Grey Velvet

Soft textures are crucial for cosiness and you cannot get much snugger than wool. Woollen rugs will quickly warm rooms up and we have a selection of rugs handcrafted from this toasty textile in a variety of styles and colours.

Velvet is another warming material and is associated with all the luxury we crave in the colder months. Our collection of unique velvet armchairs are available in an array of colours; from cool grey to jewel-inspired blue and the traditional and classic style of each will simultaneously suit both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Mood Lighting - Arcadia Cluster Ceiling Pendant, Cookie Jar Ceiling Pendant, Alhambra Ceiling Pendant

Mood lighting which emits a soft, warming glow will help create a cosy feel. The pendant lighting in our collection is ideal and there is an option for every room in the house; from the kitchen to the living room. Fixtures which feature warm-toned materials, such as burnished copper, will boost the snuggly feeling further. Our industrial style Arcadia cage pendant light, retro cookie jar pendant light and Eastern-inspired Alhambra Ceiling Pendant all feature this.

Warm Shades and Large Prints - Lattice Geometric Silk Rug, Fleur De Lis Cushion, Pimlico Armchair in Velvet, Rio Armchair in Velvet

Using warm colours is another way to make spaces feel snugger. Jewel-like hues such as those in our Carmine Pink Rio armchair and Medieval Blue Pimlico Armchair are great examples. Large prints make rooms feel snugger too, and can be paired with hot colours for extra warmth. The Fuchsia Lattice Geometric Silk Rug features Moroccan-inspired prints and the fuschia, orange and blue Fleur De Lis Cushion features over-sized Fleur de Lis prints.
