According to the ancient adage, if rain falls on St Swithun’s Day on 15th July it will continue to do so for the 40 days following. Because the temperamental British weather means this doesn’t bode particularly well for our chances of sunshine in July and beyond, we thought we would take a look at ways to imbue interiors with the spirit of summer through furniture and decoration; guaranteeing sunshine indoors, regardless of the weather outside!

As the warmer weather conjures thoughts of white sandy beaches and palm trees, creating a ‘tropical paradise’ in the home can offer all the atmosphere of sunnier climes, with none of the air miles. The two Bank Holidays in May typically see the majority of the UK population flock to the coast; we can’t wait to grab that first ice cream of the year, dust off last year’s flip flops and hit the beach!
